My 2016 Honda Accord... Hurricane Francine took out her airbags, and the insurance company opted to total her out at ~181,821 miles.
From 2003 to 2016 I had green and silver 2003 Silverado that I put 300,000 plus miles on.
Before that it was a Ford Taurus.
Whooo. What painful units.

Looks like the top issue is the quality of detergents.
AAA claims that non-TOP TIER gasolines cause 19 times more engine deposits than TOP TIER gasoline.
EPA mandated a minimum level of detergents in 1996.
TOP TIER requires a higher level of detergents than the EPA minimum. The price increase...
The OBDLInk MX+ arrived today. Now I just have to figure out how to use it !
The companies DEMO video is here. It appears to work great with my iPhone.
They include ios/android apps ! "Free included iOS, Android, and Windows apps"
Note: The older version is not IOS compatible. We also do not get to the advanced Ford & GM networks with the older version.
I shall give it a try !
This paper, sponsored by FORD, shows the effect for the FORD 2.0L ecoboost engine.
In normal driving, we don’t go reach that condition much, so the fuel Octane rating has a smaller effect on MPG. (<20%)
When we drive in hotter conditions and/or put the engine under heavier loads, then we may...
And is there any way to figure out what gear we are in?
wow. The technology is amazing!
Skip shift - so we may jump from 1-3-4 or 1-2-4
Adaptive Learning - shift points shift based on our behavior !
Gear Ratio - haven’t found this listed anywhere.
Shift point - haven’t found this listed...
Thank you. That is a good explanation.
Where can we find the tuning maps for our car?
(Looks like the fancy tuners have them. But they usually give us the boosts that they are doing and not the base information.)
So how can we tell when we are running on TWO cylinders?
That is supposed to be the big feature of the Dragon. The engine can shut down one cylinder when loafing.
Rethink that statement. They have installed a knock sensor on the engines.
When the the sensor senses knocking (detonation of the fuel from compression and not from the spark) it is adjusting the operating parameters on-the-fly to eliminate the knocking (because it can damage our engine).
I...
