  1. Bronco Sport Pics!!

Remember, the Sport is based on the same C2 platform as the Escape. C2 is a modular FWD-AWD platform that can be scaled to fit subcompact, compact and midsize vehicles. The front overhang is necessary to accommodate a transverse motor transaxle and power distribution unit, while giving the best...
  2. What’s everyone thinking Powertrain?

In the spy photos, there is indeed a knob selector, just as there is for the 1.3L I3 EcoBoost Escapes. The 2.0L Escapes get shift paddles on the steering wheel, so it would follow that a 2.0 Bronco would also... but we don't know.
  3. Drivetrain.... Will there be a 2WD or will it be either AWD or Selectable 4WD???

As was posed on Bronco6G, this is misinformed at best, and appears to be done up by someone either shooting from the hip, or working for a competitor (rhymes with creep). The English is awkward, frequently incorrect, like product descriptions on Amazon We don't know the horsepower rating, only...
  4. Towing Capacity..... What's your Minimum.? 2000 LBS? 3000 LBS? More?

I would guess the Sport, being derived from the C2 Escape platform, will have a slightly less than 3500 lb towing, slightly more GCWR, owing (hopefully) to heavier "built very rugged" vehicle components.
  5. 2021 Bronco Sport (Baby Bronco) Will Be Very Rugged, Says Ford Presentation

I hope Ford can get through all these launches ok. Four this year, and their track record for multiple launches is checkered. @BroncoRevital is spot on: there is rumored to be an offroad-biased Rav4 coming, Subie and GM won't sit still, either. So it's got to be a segment leader, not a mall...
  6. Towing Capacity..... What's your Minimum.? 2000 LBS? 3000 LBS? More?

Apples to apples, would be the Honda CR-V: 1500lbs, I think the CVT trans is probably the limiting factor. 5 X 8 single axle trailer for towing an ADV & dual sport bikes- 1800lb towing is fine fo me.
  7. Sport, Maverick, Adventure...... is it too late for forum comments as to what we feel it "should" be?????

Off topic hijack for a sentence or two: In the fall of 1959, Ford's "Whiz Kids"management made the decision to terminate the Edsel Division, there was a small run of 1960 Edsels produced. But meanwhile, a Falcon variant was being tooled up in response to a demand for smaller economical cars...
  8. What’s everyone thinking Powertrain?

This is a tough one for me. I would prefer the smaller size "SportRickTurer" over the Big one. The 1.5L I3 mated to the current 8spd auto is intolerable, IMO. I had a 2020 Escape SE AWD loaner for a day with this powertrain while having FSA19B37 done on my '18 Escape. I am chrisgb on the Escape...
  9. Who's hoping for a Manual Transmission?

I'd add "ABS OFF" as an option on an FX4/Raptor package as well. Configure it so it is only switchable if the Crawl Mode/ 4Lock is activated. Keep the feds and lawyers happy.
  10. Sport, Maverick, Adventure...... is it too late for forum comments as to what we feel it "should" be?????

Ditto. @The Pope, "Sport" replaced "Deluxe" back in the Fifties for models for which the manufacturers couldn't decide on a name. Ford motor Company is going through a dysfunctional period right now, from the Board through morale at some plants, to include violence. So it is understandable that...
  11. New Maverick spy pics in Arizona

That's the press release Ford put out.: NYIAS Press Days April 8th or 9th. Still don't know if the "SportRick" is still scheduled to be available before the big 'un.
  12. 2021 Bronco Paint Colors Revealed - Will The Bronco Sport Get These?

I'm probably overthinking this, but for me, the absence of any earth tone colors is disappointing. Area 51, Fighter Jet, Antimatter, Cyber, don't speak to me as being a Bronco/Bronco Sport. The placeholder photo on Ford's website shows a Southwestern desert scene, not a support base for...
  13. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

Chrysler was all pushbuttons in the late 50s-early 60s. They don't do dashboards like they used to! 1962 Chrysler Imperial
  14. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

If the 1.5L is the standard mill, I'm betting it will have only the knob shifter with it
  15. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

Other Ford products with the 2.0 EcoBoost and above have paddle shifters available on the steering wheel in addition to the knob. The 1.5L 2020 3cyl Escape SE AWD I had as a loaner recently had the rotary knob mated to the new 8-speed transaxle. Geared way tall IMO, but kicks down smoothly. In...
  16. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

Painful is a little strong- dissatisfied enough to never buy one, though. I'm @chrisgb on the Ford Escape forum. I wrote up an impression of it here. If I was going to buy a Bronco Sport/Maverick/Baby and it required going to a top trim and/or a lot of other options I don't care for to get the...
  17. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

The 1.5L is now a 3 cylinder. I had one in a '20 Escape loaner recently.
  18. 2021 Bronco Maverick (Baby Bronco) Interior First Spied Look!

I am. The 2.0 Escape does have the steering wheel paddle shifters, so there is that. There appears to be a mild lift vs Escape, and maybe a suspension/skid plate/ tire package will be available, but I don't anticipate a JLR Defender beater.
