I always put mine in park (or at least I think I do). Trying to not build negative habit transfer to other vehicles.
The going into park feature when opening the driver door is slightly annoying, but easily overcome by moving the knob back into the desired drive mode. I'd rather have a slight...
I had a great time a couple weeks ago going over the pass. There were a couple of interesting spots, but everything was very doable. Definitely loving my little Badlands!
A couple notes- I aired down to about 25 psi. Was plenty to get through the sand, mud, 9+ creek crossings, one mud pit...
I'm still loving my tires! Have worked great on sand, rock, mud, snow, and also daily driving. I did get an increase in tire noise right after I did my first rotation, but it calmed down after about 2500 miles in the "new" direction of spin. Got a little over 9K on the tires so far, and...
I don't mind either for the speed. Analog is nice for the quick glance, and digital is good so I know what speed range my ticket is going to be in.?
The gauges I truly do hate are the chicklets for the fuel and coolant temp. Give me the option for analog there please!!
It's definitely a bit of a sleeper, but I love my Hankook tires. I have the Dynapro AT2 Extreme, and have loved it both on and off road. My snow experience with the tire has been limited, but no issues so far. My brother is on his second set on his truck in CO, and has had no issues...
I have the 1.5 inch HRG lift and 245/65/17 A/T tires installed. I lost about 1.5 mpg on the Badlands. I average low 24's when I drive under 65, and go down to about 23 at 80 mph. (Although I had an amazing tailwind on my last road trip and averaged 28.5 going 82 mph. That was awesome!)
Actually, the vehicle is quite easy to control in high winds. The corrections that are needed for winds and gusts are minimal. Now, the issue you described CAN lead to problems if you are trying to overcontrol the vehicle, which is exactly what the lane centering system is doing in gusty...
Has anyone else noticed that the lane centering system has a difficult time in high wind situations? I noticed this since I had the vehicle, any crosswind over about 20 mph the system constantly overcorrects with the steering and ends up inducing a minor steering oscillation (steering wheel...
Nope, no issues. Though the problems the software has with overcorrecting in high wind situations was still present, and even after re-calibration after my windshield cracked.
If you had someone install your kit for you, they may have (for some unknown reason) loosened or removed those bolts as well during the install. However, previous poster is correct in that they are not required to be touched during the lift kit install (at least the 1.5'" lift- I'm not sure...
Thanks for getting back on that. And yeah I understand your confusion now, I'm not a fan of the felt either, and don't plan on keeping it. But it is a very easy point of measurement that (I think) is the same across the packages, so it'll work for comparison purposes. I know the little heat...
I believe you did. These appear to be well designed and made in the videos and photos you've shared.
But the question remains- how far below the factory felt does this skid plate sit?
And the clearance question?
The install vids make it look like it sits an inch or so lower than the felt covers, but that could just be a lighting issue. I'd like to pull the trigger on this and order it, but if it sits that low, I'll just end up returning it so would like to avoid the hassle.
This looks great, can't wait until they're in full production!
Will you be offering a separate piece to cover the important bits still exposed (the cables/wires/lines on the upper left side of the photo that are normally under the felt), or will the final product also protect those as well...
On the Badlands there is a metal bash plate (works quite well, I've tested it:whew:) that covers the evaporator. But your fuel lines are completely unprotected. Even though they sit higher in the vehicle, it just takes one errant loose boulder when going just a bit too fast off road to make...
(Elephant Hill Trail, Needles District, Canyonlands NP)
So many great photos here, folks should post where they were taken from (if on public lands of course).
Well, this thread has devolved a bit.
I generally go with manufacturer recommendations, until seeing evidence to do something different. I previously owned a 2017 Ford Escape, 1.5L engine, and followed the recommended oil change intervals. NEVER again on an ecoboost engine will I wait...
The badlands has some pretty good factory installed armor plates, but it also leaves other areas completely unprotected. Your trim has even less protection. My best advice is to get under your vehicle and figure out what is protected and what isn't. Know the clearance that you have on those...
