I don't like the rust or the shiny new muffler that you can see from the back of a new vehicle. One of the first things I do with a new vehicle is spray everything that shows with a high-temp flat black paint. It looks much better in my opinion and probably helps with the premature rust.

Here is a picture of the wiring diagram from the Service Manual. The footwell wires (3) are the same color for the cup holders and footwell. It should be just a matter of splicing them. I hope the passenger side footwell light will be accessible once the glove box is removed. I'm not sure why...

Make sure you get the studs to mount your engine cover. Check other posts on this subject.
