I put 235/70r17 Cooper Discoverers on. It doesnt rub, but its close enough that mud in the wheel wells will grind off at full lock. As others have said its not height, but the width of the wheel well that limits tire size, and anything over 30in will need some modifications. The liners are just...
It may be slightly different in your bronco, but for mine the center connection was just a bar stuck thru a bracket on the lower seat frame. What resistors did you use for the seatbelt sensor bypass?
I as well built a platform, but sounds like I did it a bit differently. I took out half of the rear, but left the bottom and passenger side upright so I can still sit 3. I built a platform over the driver half, such that it is level with the cargo space, giving me almost 6ft of flat on one side...
I did manage it - I dont have pictures but I can take some later. I did it the hard way at first to find the easier way.
Removing the bottom frame itself is very difficult because it goes under the plastic cover on either side of the cargo space. I managed to do that by taking out a variety of...
I suspect that the premium has less/no ethanol, several stations around me are like that. When I was in Oklahoma I could get ethanol-free in the 87, gained significant mpg vs E10
Ive posted in other places, but this summer I towed a trailer w/ 2x4wheelers that was just under 2000lbs, up very gnarly terrain. It did great, got ~17mpg, but it did squat my rear over an inch and pushed my headlights up to the heavens. They are really easy to adjust tho, just turn the little...
Just finished a ~2500 mile journey across the Rockies, elevation 1500ft-7400ft, including 80mph interstate. Have a 2.0L first edition with suspension lift and 235/70r17 tires. On the computer, reads over 27mpg for the whole trip, spot checked a few times at the pump and it is pretty close. Im...
I second this, when the MtoE gets to zero, you have less than a gallon left and better be very close to a gas station. I ran it to zero just to test and immediately filled up, it was over 15gal in a 15.9gal tank.
AS/S doesnt activate the first few minutes after you start the car, so that the engine can get warmed up. After that, starting the engine is a hot start, such that the starter has to do almost zero work and the engine self-powers in less than a second. So far less wear than if the engine had to...
235/65 is a 29in tire and fits fine, the Badlands has that size as optional. 235/70 is a 30in tire and barely fits at full lock. 245/70 is a 30.4in tire and would rub, because of bigger diameter and a wider cross-section. Its not so much the travel/lift that is the issue, but the front/back of...
~5lbs more per tire than the Falkens. Did consider the 245/65 KO2s which weigh in between, but they are smaller dia. and less tread depth and only have 50k warranty vs 65k on the Coopers
I had 3 Falkens get flats from nails and rocks and who knows what else, so I swore to myself another flat and Id switch them all. It finally happened. After a lot of research I settled on 235/70r17 Cooper Discover AT3 4S, a more aggressive tread and bigger tire with excellent ratings for the...
The Badlands (and FE) come with a sort-of lift from the factory and bigger tires (235/65r17), so 8.8in of ground clearance, which is good for the class, but not exceptional. 3rd party lifts on top of that go ~1 inch more, at least for the spacer lifts Ive seen. Then it can just barely fit 235/70...
Oh, maybe an 8 - I havent had any wrecks or tickets in many years. But I have picked up bad habits in Albquerque that I really have to pay attention to when I drive elsewhere...
Driving in NM a few days ago in a 30+ headwind, was getting ~20mpg at highway speeds. Driving back it was mostly a tailwind, and got over 30. Being a brick is both bad and good :D When turned sideways to the wind I could feel it pulling in gusts, but otherwise handled similarly to any other...
Yep something about the shape and aero means a lot more bugs hit the windshield than in other cars I have driven. Dont have the aeroskin deflector thing, but definitely thinking about it for long trips
Ive noticed about a 10% drop with a roof rack with spare tire, recovery boards, and hilift jack. But that is town+highway, so an extended highway-only trip I expect a bit worse drop cause aero loads are so much worse at speed.
I have been looking to upgrade the falken wildpeaks that came on mine, 235/65 and 29in. I did look at the 225/75, I liked the cooper discoverer (30.4in) which were 10 ply, but after some measurin' I would need to do some trimming on the fender well to fit without rubbing. My choice now is...
Please post pics of the mounting for these when you get it all installed, Im thinking of custom making rock sliders, and Im seeing how best to attach them
