  1. Something I feel i HAVE to clear up about transmission servicing.

I do a drain and fill every 10K, it takes about 3.5 qrts. and takes about as long as it does to change the engine oil and filter. Cheap insurance for the long term considering some are posting 8K for a new transmission at a Ford dealer. I'm sure the cost would be lower, possibly around 4-5K...
  2. Car Camping in Colorado! Only 1 tiny annoyance

You can turn the screen off. below the screen, far button the right.
  3. Something I feel i HAVE to clear up about transmission servicing.

I recently did a drain and fill on my 21 BS OB. The process is easier than I thought. Just make sure you have all the tools and it will take about as long as it takes to change the engine oil and filter. I didn't measure the fluid I drained but I had 5 qts of ULV fluid just in case. After...
  4. 2,200 Mile Road Trip Report 2022 Bronco Sport Badlands Premium Edition

Your speed might be closer than you think. For example if the roadside radar display says 55 you might be going 54.999 mph. If your tires are the stock size but the tread is at 50% you will need to adjust your speed upwards, in your case 1 mph more, assuming that you are exactly 1 mph off from...
  5. 2,200 Mile Road Trip Report 2022 Bronco Sport Badlands Premium Edition

Good milaege considering your speed. You must have had a good tailwind for a good portion of the trip. In case you missed the thread on adjusting your fuel bias search for "engineering test mode". There is an excellant post on how to access the fuel bias settings. Now that you have a good idea...
  6. Rear Differential Unit (RDU) Replacement

So far good, no issue's. I will replace the oil in the RDU at my next oil change to maximize the life of it. The filler and drain plugs are very accessable so really no reason not to service it regulary. Good luck on yours.
  7. PTU Fluid Change

Good morning, the PTU and transmission definitely "do not use the same fluid/oil". The lines you see are most likey the PTU coolant lines, the same coolant as the engine uses. Your transmission takes a Mercon ULV, P/N XT-12-QULV. Your PTO requires Motorcraft XY-75W85-QL Synthetic Hypoid Gear...
  8. PTU Fluid Change

Good Day BS Wrench Heads, I've been following the PTU threads for quite awhile and decided to takle changing the PTU oil myself. I inquired about having it done at two different dealers, both quoted $300 to have it done which was too rich for my blood. Everything is twice as much at a dealer...
  9. Rear Spoiler Installed

It's a good look. Just noticing your black lettering and thought to give you food for thought on more personal touches. My BS is Shadow Black, the OEM letters are white and to me it was too contrasting so I put black overlays on the top of the letterts to de-contrast them. There is still the...
  10. Curious as to how many have had/have brake noise

I had it on the OEM brakes so I changed them out with a Power Stop kit (cross-drilled rotors and ceramic pads). Plus I installed the updated bushing kit from Ford. The moaning stopped for a few weeks but is back same as before. Granted I live in a very humid area in south Florida so that doesn't...
  11. Cobb Tuned Bronco Sport ...finally! Whoa, this feels good.

Nice to get what you pay for. I'm waiting for one to be made for the 1.5. There are other's out there so if Cobb doesn't have one in a month or two I'll go with the competions version. Out of curiosity, what has the Cobb unit done for your mpg compared to pre-Cobb mpg?
  12. Got the PCM recall programing done

I had it done a month ago. It coinsided with my battery failing right after the warranty expired. No big deal actually as I have a better battery now. The one thing I noticed is the Start/Stop duration with all accessories off. Before the engine off cycle was 3 minutes, now it is 2 minutes...
  13. Update on the 1.5L drain hose recall from NHTSA.

This is getting some traction. Or as some might say the crap is going to hit the fan. I see new fuel injectors in my future.
  14. Update on the 1.5L drain hose recall from NHTSA.

Interesting, there needs to be clarification on injuries, some careful wording there. Sounds to me the issue is alive and well and heading towards an eventual recall. A fire is serious business, people panic easily and can get hurt just trying to avoid a fire, extract passengers, save the dog...
  15. Update on the 1.5L drain hose recall from NHTSA.

Most likely Ford will wait this out and keep their own legal team on top of it to ward off a mass recall. When I was contacted to be a part of a class action I did have information on the other litigants. There were two fires attributed to a "fuel event" and those were non injury events. The...
  16. RDU replacement leads to another trip to the dealer

Thats messed up. I had the exact work done in May. Thankfully everything worked out, even the rental. All free of charge. Integrity is a hit and miss now days, you want to believe what you are told but life expieriences tells you to always check. Good luck getting the job done.
  17. Update on the 1.5L drain hose recall from NHTSA.

I looked into replacing the injectors myself. As far as I can tell there are three avaiable, same ones most likely but sold under a different lable. I've never replaced an injector before so I can't say what other components go along with it. My initial thought is there is stress induced by the...
  18. Update on the 1.5L drain hose recall from NHTSA.

I purchased my BS in Jan 22. In Jan 23 I was contacted by a law firm in Detroit who asked if I wanted to be represented in Class Action Lawsuit related to the fuel injector issue. I agreed and was officially made a plaintiff in the lawsuit. At that time there were 5 plantiffs, three of which had...
  19. Oil change the works at Ford dealership

80K a year to change oil and rotate tires? In any reality that is great money for the work. I live in south Florida, top 5 highest cost of living areas in the states, techs are getting much less than that and that is why the quality of workmanship is less than what you expect. Seems Ontario is...
  20. Oil change the works at Ford dealership

Service techs come and go. Sounds like he was high on something. I pay $44 a hour for a DYI lift and do all my own now. Even paying for the lift it is cheaper and everything is done how I like done. Makes me mad to hear about your expierience. Hope you find a quality shop the next time.
