How big a tire can I put on my BB Sport with a 2” lift kit?

How big a tire can I put on my BB Sport with a 2” lift kit? I’m trying to keep my 17” rims. I’m looking at 255 70 17 tires. Is this too big for the wheel well?

It's not so much the tire height being the problem, it's the clearance to the backside of the front wheel wells. Having a lift doesn't change the backside wheel well clearance.
When the front suspension is compressed and the wheels are tightly turned tires of that diameter and larger will touch the backside of the wheel wells and can damage the fabric liners, the pinch weld under the liner will contact the tire.
I know there are a few on the board that say that size tire will not rub, that may be true for most day to day driving.
I am just saying the rubbing potential for tires 30 inches in diameter and larger can happen.
I have 245 65R 17 tires on my Badlands, in the situation I mentionef above, when the tires were new they would just kiss the wheel well liners, now that the tires have worn they currently do not rub, I do not have a lift.

Maybe you'll get lucky in your driving environment and not have any rubbing which would be ideal.

Any size you want as long as it fits. Your transmission will thank you in a few thousand miles.

Just in case it isn’t clear (ance), adding a lift of any size does not improve the clearance for a larger tire. As @RSH states, it’s the weld seam in the wheel well that’s the issue. Some in the early days would cut slits between the welds and fold (beat) over the seams.

Since most are adding lifts and larger tires for looks and not practicality for off road use, I’d say go for it. As long as you don’t turn too tight you’ll be fine.

I have a 1.5 inch leveling lift on my black diamond outer banks and just added BFG trail terrain 245/65R17 tires. That was the largest tire they recommend without rubbing. I honesty wouldn’t go any bigger. I think it looks great!

This question has been beaten to death. The issue with tires isn’t height, it is WIDTH. 235/75/17 is the widest you can go (and there is minor rubbing ). Reason : width matters is the tire rubs on fender liner and fender pinch welds when you turn.

Option a is run spacers / new rims with an offset significant enough to clear that (and tires stick out of fenders and throw rocks at your doors, and illegal in most states) and stress wheel bearings .
Option B you design and build a new A arm type lift(with included drive shafts, and entirely new suspension geometry, and electronic sensors for that,(id ballpark 10k-15k).

I’m unaware of any options beyond that for going bigger than 235/75r17.

That's great but I don't know why you're quoting me. OP asked for a specific tire size and I gave them a thread and poster who uses them.
