Vapor canister vent solenoid

That was the recommended fix from my reader. I should have listened to my gut and gone with the purge valve assembly first.

Besides the MIL on the dash with P0456 code, what other symptoms were you experiencing?

A common issue with the EVAP purge valve assembly is experiencing difficulty when starting the vehicle after getting fuel.

Just a friendly reminder, when filling up your rigs, when the pump nozzle "clicks", you're full. Do not try to add anymore as you will negatively impact the entire evap system. The canister vent solenoid and the EVAP purge valve [should] be good for 60+k miles

Thank you for this. I rarely squeeze any extra gas into the tank after the auto cut off, but I did just that my last fill up. Over the weekend, check engine light came on and stayed on. So I'll never do that again. Of course I'm right at 60K miles also, so it may have been time.

I checked my BlueDriver OBD tool to scan, and sure enough a P04F0 code popped up three times: "EVAP System High Pressure Purge Line Performance." I ordered the complete hose cluster which included the vapor canister purge valve. Standard Motor Products CP124 at Rock Auto in case helpful. With shipping it ran me $195. Should be here in a couple of days. I'll report back on the cure or misdiagnosis.

Okay, problem fixed. It took a day and a half for the check engine light to go away, but replacing the vapor canister purge valve with hose cluster was the solution. Definitely a do it yourself. Just take your time in getting the original hoses disconnected. They have a tab locking mechanism that requires you to push in from the sides to release the clamp.

I'm replacing the vapor canister vent solenoid on my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport 1.5 L Outer Banks, and I cannot get it "seated" back into the carbon canister. Nothing is clicking it back into place, so the component is just placed loosely in the canister. Any guidance?

Greetings. I ended up having to remove the canister itself for better access. The replacement solenoid would not fit no matter what I tried. Turns out the problem was indeed the purge valve assembly in the engine bay and not the solenoid in the canister. Lesson learned.

Did you need to get a new canister? Just curious how that solenoid should be removed and replaced if it becomes necessary

Fortunately, I didn't need to replace the canister. The purge solenoid itself is seated in the back (rear-bumper side) of the canister and pulls out. My mistake was ordering a Dorman-brand replacement instead of an OEM replacement from Ford. I couldn't get it to seat properly.
