I guess the recalls don't mean sh!t to a lot of buyers.

Some may uninformed , don't do much research, or the visual aspect and the goodie's on each model over rides the brain housing group's ability to make rational decisions.

Would I still buy a Ford product, probably but I sure would look at other brands and do a lot of book learnin' before making a decision.

I just bought a 2025 Escape Platinum. So far as I can tell the fit and finish is better than the 23 model year Escape that I had for 6 months that Ford bought back. As my dealer service writer says "Ford finally gets it right and than discontinues the model" Bought now because there was good discounts and Ford is discontinuing the model. I look at Honda CRV and Toyota RAV-4 but I didn't like the designs as much as the Escape. I am just used to Ford. Also for me I have been buying Ford for over 30 years at the same dealer. To me the dealer is as important or more important than the brand because they have always provided me with good service.

I think Ford is shooting themselves in the foot though. For this quarter Bronco Sport sales were 8,960 and Escape sales were 8,633. They already dropped sedans and the Edge and are dropping the Escape. Bronco Sports sales were slightly more than Escape's possibly due to the fact that Escape is being discontinued and maybe Ford not keeping up with the competition since they are discontinuing the Escape. I would bet most of those sales will go to the competition rather than a Bronco Sport like Ford is expecting.

I've owned 3 Escapes, 1 SEL and 2 Titanium's. All were good cars. The dealer is a big part of any decision. I am considering an Escape again. I don't need the offroad capability anymore of the Sport.

I'm not brand loyal myself so I'll do some foot work before making a decision.

Does anyone know if the 2.0L MPC engine is in the 2024 Escape?

the recalls are relatively minor and the fact that people know about them makes it less of a concern. to me a recall means something is getting fixed for free and not a big deal. its companies that his the recalls and call them "service updates" like honda did for years, so the customer has to pay for them, are the problem.

if your looking at other brands good luck, just as many or more recalls. its a newer cycle, well all cycles are newer now so recalls are the norm as there are model changes every 4 years, so by the time you get all the bugs worked out a new power plant comes in or a new body style and the recalls start all over...

a good example of this is my 2023 bronco sport, it has only had 2 recalls, the one was for a module that was changed before I bought it from the dealer, and the other is the fuel injectors which I have had the flash and am just waiting for the full fix, is it a big deal nope, if my car burns down on the way to work then ford will be scrambling to get me a new one as it was caused by a known recall, but what is the likelihood of that happening? how many broncos have actually caught on fire because of the injector recall?

Recalls are the norm, but my point is Ford is the leader for recalls in 2025 by a large margin so your point of other brands having more is mute.

No one else even comes close and sales are up. So, it seems recalls aren't affecting sales.

One person can have multiple issues with their vehicle, and others who have the same year and model don't. It's a crap shoot buying a vehicle now.

I may or may not go in another direction. Will I win or lose who knows.

Yes, Ford started using the 2.0L MPC engines in the 23 model year Escape. My 23 Escape with the 2.0L engine had issues of what felt like harsh re-engaging of the transmission after the engine turned back on on from being off at a stop. There was a delay in the car moving forward. It was a safety issue and it was bad enough that Ford bought it back. Ford eventually came up with a software update to the antilock brakes that must of been grabbing when the engine restarted and prevented the Escape from moving. It only affected the 23 model year and my 25 Escape 2.0L re-engages very smoothly.
