Looks like there's a rubber piece on the end that covers the gap. If I remember, I'll unload my trunk tomorrow and lift it out to get a better picture. I don't think it will even fit the lower position because of this piece.

I'd search some junkyards or ebay and find the cover from a badlands or sasquatch package. It gets rid of that gap, and is a bit more stable.
