  1. New Badlands Tire pressure

The air pressure on the door jamb placard is calculated by auto manufacturers in conjunction with tire manufacturers specifically for your car based on weight and numerous other factors, to have the largest practical contact patch with the road surface. This keeps the weight on the tire spread...

Best thoughts to her, and you.
  3. How does the 1.5 3 Cylinder Engine Do Up Big Mountains?

Call me a frustrated decryption algorithm. Bot is just offensive.
  4. Road trip to Vancouver Canada.

Agreed it’s not ideal in every situation. It would be great to be able to downshift to the gear you choose, especially in cruise mode.

Do you have the L button in that model year? You can use it to provide engine braking.
  6. The Big Bend deserves a second chance.

Very nice. Are all the safety sensors working and calibrated? Any codes popping up?

Joe said: Then I got a fire extinguisher (white to match the vehicle). There doesn't seem to be a really good place to mount the fire extinguisher (no roll bar/I'll figure something out). Desert Does It (online) sells a fire extinguisher mount for under the front seat. They make good quality...
  8. Pedal Commander throttle controller

Just curious, how do you know when cylinder deactivation is happening? I drove my Big Bend for almost 2 years and, while I assume it happened at some point, I never noticed at any time a loss of power nor any sign of cylinder deactivation. To the contrary, the engine had plenty of power in...

That’s good news! Keep doing your regular inspections. With warmer weather coming tire pressures will be rising, with adjustments needed at least monthly. :)
  10. Not happy with my defrost - a bit strange

Is your a/c off? I don’t remember exactly how those controls work, but the windshield clears much faster and stays cleared if the a/c button is on. You’ll still have warm air but the a/c pulls the moisture out. And make sure the recirc. Is off.
  11. Lost faith

4 Water pumps, 1 a/c condenser, multiple recalls in less than 2 years for me. I never had to pay anything out of pocket, but I didn’t like what I saw looking into the future. Traded it in with 23,000 miles on it. I loved the car but lost trust for long term reliability. Even minor repair...

Yes they should do a pressure test, with with or without dye, so they can see small leaks. The dye makes it easier to spot. Hoses can leak, water pumps fail, valves, radiators and heater cores and their hose connections They should also check the old oil for signs of coolant to make sure a...

Hi Debra, are you taking it to your dealer for a scheduled oil change? If so they will probably be doing an inspection of the car, tire rotation etc. if you are still under warranty. let them know the coolant is slightly low and can they look into that. Those 1.5l engines have had water...
