Rpm gauge jumps when decelerating

I have 2024 bronco sport ; i scheduled an appointment to have this looked at but want others input on this.. when i take my foot off the gas and let the car decelerate on its own it jolts like crazy/rpm gauge shoots up… im hoping it isnt an urgent issue and end up stranded on my way to work before i have it looked at. Doesnt seem as severe when driven in eco mode but can still feel it happen

Because you say it is less in Eco mode and Eco mode affects transmission shifting points, I suspect transmission programming is the culprit.

Do these transmissions have a learning mode? My truck does. I've never had problems but others have complained of rough shifting, cured by resetting it.

Yes, the transmission adapts to driving conditions. Disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15+ minutes should reset the powertrain control module to factory preset.

I posted some info on transmission reset and relearn but my suggestion is you do nothing on that 2024 - you don’t want to possibly erase any stored codes or alter the behavior - suggest you allow the dealership to look it the issue first

Yeah I'm going to wait and hopefully the issue doesn’t get worse , appointment not for another week and a half
