Wife said that yesterday, she got a warning from the collision avoidance system on her 2024 BL.

4 way intersection, she was turning right, oncoming van going straight but not even at the intersection yet.

Just a warning, no auto actions noted but she didn't feel there was anything at real risk.

To her credit, she is actually reading the owner's manual. Said something about a sensitivity adjustment? I don't recall making any adjustments to that system, so I'd bet it is still at whatever the factory setting is.

I usually get pre collision warnings when a car in front of me slows down to make a right turn. I have my system set at the highest sensitivity setting so usually I get the alarms with plenty of notice. The settings are set in the Sync screen menu. If not familiar with the alarm it can be startling at first. It is a loud alarm and red flashing on the message screen.

Thanks. So far its a one of but if it persists, we'll look into making an adjustment.

I’ve never changed my settings but the first time it went off, it scared the crap out of me. Wasn’t even close to a crash. A vehicle just turned accross my bow but had plenty of time IMO. Went off one other time when a Prius owner thought it was wise to move into the fast lane when only doing 40 or so.

Mine goes off every so often when there's no need to but I'm glad it's there for when I really do. It's I'mpossible to ignore.

Mine would go off when I was approaching someone turning from behind and I didn't feel I needed to brake. Mostly it was pretty good. We traded for a Volvo and keep it on high sensitivity because it also detects things approaching from off the road (deer we're hoping). So far it seems as reactive to vehicles as our BS was. No deer so far!

I had a false alarm this past week. There was a huge line of cars backed up in the opposing lane and the road was curving to the right. I can only conclude that the BS saw the mass of cars directly in front of me but did not detect that the road was curved and I was staying in my lane. I can imagine the difficulty of programming these systems for all scenarios.

I do not think the system detects the curves in the road just that another vehicle is in its path and thinks that a crash is imminent if action is not taken.
