I have this one from Crutchfield. I bought from them because of the exemplary customer service they are known for. So great to be able to call and ask questions both before and after purchasing.

I put it in my 2012 Expedition with a Kenwood aftermarket stereo and it works like a champ. I bought another one for the Sport at Christmastime but have yet to install it because back surgery rearranged my priorities. It has a USB-A "pass through" plug on the opposite end of where it plugs into the car, but I believe it is for charging only, so you could not plug a USB stick with music into that.

I forgot to mention, the box has an SD card slot on it, you can play files directly from it.

To get back to Sync, press the Apps button, then “Car”, then press the button in the bottom right of the box menu screen:

It’s small and fits perfectly in the space in front of the two USB ports.

There is a little space above that plug you can hide the box. I put mine there too.

I didn't know about that one and ended up buying this one from Amazon for $30. 3 months in and its still working fine.

Is there any music lag when switching songs? I’ve tested other devices like this and they always have a 2-3 sec input delay when switching from one song to the next on CarPlay.

I don’t know about playing music from an SD card on the device itself (not tried that yet) but using CarPlay, no, there’s no delay or lag at all during music playback, or while using any of the apps I’ve used so far.
