I'm too old for a roof top tent, but I would have loved one 40 years ago. In those days, we slept in the back of the truck.

Just curious, how bad does it hurt your gas mileage. I put a luggage box on mine, and was surprised at the drop in mpg.

Honestly did not notice much of a drop in mileage. The tent only weighs 97lbs, so less than if I had an adult passenger. The biggest hit to my mpg was when I got a lift kit installed and upgraded my tires.

One day I will trade this in for a tear drop trailer or pick-up truck with camper combo. For now I’ll enjoy it while I’m still physically able to.

we still have it, but getting a 155lb dog up there doesnt work. we now have a 1991 chev g20 van for camping.
