About a week ago I started to notice that when I put the 2021 BS in drive it didn't start to roll like it used to do. I gave it a little gas and it started to roll with a slight jerk. It now does it everywhere on a slope or level ground but it has to be from a stop. Was there a download from Ford or is it all that damn dust coming from my brake pads?

Could be the hold feature got switched on. Look up Auto Hold in the owner's manual index.

The system applies the brakes to hold your vehicle at a standstill after you stop your vehicle and release the brake pedal. This could be beneficial in certain situations, for example when waiting on a hill or in traffic. Switching Auto Hold On and Off E319161 Press the button on your console to access auto hold on the touchscreen.

I drove a stick from 1983 to 2015. My 2011 VW JSW TDI had a hill hold feature that would hold the brakes briefly before releasing. A neat feature on steep inclines.

I do not like the auto hold after driving 3 years without it. Thanks all of you for the info, I will look it up on how to turn it off.

Push the button on the center console behind the ebrake button (at least it's there on our 22 BB). I don't like it either. My wife keeps turning it on and if I forget to turn it off, I'm like WTF is wrong with this thing? lol

If it's not rolling immediately after you put it in drive and take your foot off the brake it's almost certainly because the parking brake is engaged. Similar to the Auto Hold function, your parking brake prevents the car from rolling even after you shift to Drive, but it automatically disengages when you step on the accelerator pedal. Look around in your owner's manual: there is an option to change the behavior of the parking brake, it can be set to engage every time you shut down the engine. It sounds like that feature has been enabled on your car.

As others have noted, the "Auto Hold" function will hold the brake for you when you come to a stop at a light or in traffic. You'll see a green "AUTO HOLD" annunciator at the bottom of your center instrument cluster when it's engaged. Your owner's manual explains how to disable the feature.

That did it, no more sticky brakes. Must have accidentally touched that button and never noticed. Thanks a lot.

I'm "what the hell did I do now?" when something is different.
