I have so much more that I want to ask here but I’m just gonna start with my major concerns.

I’ve finally landed on the speakers I want to replace. I’m getting the pioneer D series (Pioneer TS-D65C)… I already ordered the component set but I just realized the tweeter in the dash is 8ohm so when I replace it with the components tweeter (4ohms) I’m going to have a volume increase from the tweeters….

I was wondering if maybe instead I should just get the coaxial set (ts-d65f) and leave the factory tweeter in the dash?

my fear go either way will be overwhelming high end… you get more volume with the component set from the tweeter or you have 2 tweeters in different areas with the coaxial set.

maybe I’m overthinking it ?

The OE driver in the door is 8 ohm as well, so you are replacing both the door and dash drivers with lower impedance drivers. Whatever bump in volume you get from the tweeters should be matched by the low/mid drivers as well. Just be careful you don't overdrive the amp.

I used coaxial speakers in all 4 doors and left the stock tweeters in place. I really like the sound stage created by the added tweeters. I have not needed to reduce the high frequency response or anything to balance things out.

The only thing that was scary for me was that the speakers really really needed to break in for a few hours. It sounded horrible at first and I worried that I would have to replace/redo everything I had just done. Within 2 days everything mellowed out and now I feel like it sounds great.

It says on the tech specs that the tweeter is 8ohms and the woofer in the kick panel is 4ohms

Can you share your source? I assumed all the speakers were the same impedance. Powerbase offers a line of direct-fit upgrade speakers for a variety of Ford models, and I'm pretty sure they are all 4 ohm.

The video below offers some insights into using speakers of different impedance together. The details may not apply directly to mobile audio, but the concepts do.

I think in the end it won't really matter all that much. I believe there is enough tone (frequency) control built in to the OE audio system to balance out any volume differential that might crop up with what you want to do.

here is a pic of the back of the factory tweeter. I just think if I put a 4ohm speaker in there it’s gonna be louder and might a be a bit overpowering.

It's possible, but you are proposing a component system which should include a crossover to manage the amount of power going to each speaker (check out the video) at specific frequencies. As I said, I believe the built-in low, mid, and high frequency controls available in the OE system will allow acceptable modulation of the frequency response across the range.

That aside, if you are older than 40 years you already have significant high-frequency hearing loss, so a bit of boost in the treble range likely wouldn't be overpowering.
