When my BS shows up, I'll be picking up a set just to have but hopefully never need. I just throw a set in every rig I own. Cheap insurance.

I use chains in the middle of nowhere if I get stuck in the mud. I got stuck pulling my travel trailer with my F-250 and thought it might be a good idea to put the chains on the front. When I tried it, they wouldn't fit because of brake lines. I put them on the back and made it through the mud hole.

I once hit a puddle on a county road and my side of the truck was down in the mud. It was 6" up on the door. Putting chains on in those conditions isn't fun. A Hi-Lift jack is the only way to put chains on in those conditions. Even with the chains, I couldn't drive out of that hole. My recovery strap paid for itself that day.

I've taken my Badlands into some fairly hairy mud and snow, but so far it has performed like a champ.
