I would think you can use anything. I am using cheap seat covers and they do not affect the seat heater at all.

I've used the Carhart seat covers on our Badlands for the last two years without issues.
We use the rather thick Carhartt seat covers on a Subaru. I assumed that they'd render our heated seats useless. I was wrong. The covers are not as insulating as I feared and I can feel the heat just as well as before. 4 years later and it's all good. I'd expect the same experience with other cars.
