so, the new 2035 Bronco and Bronco Sports will be electric or not sell in CA.

I really think when I pick up my BS this Saturday, it will be my last new ICE car. we have two other vehicles, one is ICE and the other is PHEV. The PHEV will go when my EV order arrives (now that is going to be a long wait, if there is a "Waiting Room" on that order, it'd be a long long thread.....it's an Rivian R1S.

this is an ambitious goal. I remember the days of mid 2020, we see blue sky in the day and more stars at night here in LA. I'd like to see that again.

Checks notes...*enough crude on US reserve for 400 years at current consumption.
Bottom line...$$$$ government elites have portfolios to fill out.

Move to North Carolina. We still have blue skies and starry nights.

When I first read the headline yesterday I thought "this is nuts. I know this State is nuts. But this is really bat shat nuts". lol

To Marty's statement, it really is mostly a headline (imo). Things are already headed in that direction anyway. If things aren't where they need to be by the deadline; easy enough to just amend the regulation (btw heavy-duty truck owners are safe until 2045).

I was wondering what an all EV BS would look like/operate though. Ford is already getting fantastic real-world data from the F150-Lighting and Mach-E.

There are already so many car companies that are saying that they will no longer sell ICE vehicles by 2030. This will not be an issue and if anything is just grabbing headlines at this point. Before deciding to get the BS, I had been wondering if the next vehicle would be the last ICE or first all electric for me.

That being said, regulations in CA have driven many positive changes in our country. At least that is the way I see it, though I know others don’t see it that way. It is difficult sometimes to see that benefit when the regulation/law is passed but eventually I think that most people will agree it is/was the right thing to do.

California can’t afford water and electricity for the current residents. How the F*** will they be able to enforce EV’s. The governor should have been recalled for no confidence, if nothing else. ?‍♀

Assumed this BS might be the last ICE I buy. Need 5 years to see what goes on with the grid. Also mildly /acutely suspicious that it might be the last car I need to drive.

Ok that’s a thought considered as well. Driving will be a recreational sports by then

I agree most car company are headed that way. In fact most of thehave already stop the development of an ICE.

Did somebody mention water?? That will come back when the sky is all blue…. Hm.. that is an oxymoron?!!

I probably should go find a v12 car to buy as well. That will be my last ICE car..

I think an EV/Hybrid sport for city/suburban use is a very feasible option. The true issue is, EV is not accessible on a grand scale right now, if ever...and it's not green. This is a publicity push to appease a loud faction.

Welp, only one way to find out! Also, NOT EVEN TOILET PAPER has been accessible a grand scale in the not so distant past. If the world can run out of toilet paper and recover, anything is possible! ?

As far as the "green" this seems to be predominantly targeted to where in process the emissions come from. Trying to harness the emissions from thousand or whatever fixed in place chimneys is a helluva lot simpler problem to solve then accomplish the same on millions of tailpipes that constantly move, flip over, crash into other things. The intelligence of the operators of those millions of moving tale pipes......questionable at best. ?

I think it would be very unlikly that the entire country would give up ICE powered veichles by 2035. If any state near California still has them then all you would need to do is cross the border, buy one, and drive it back. California wont like the lost taxs one bit.

Alternativly, with the trend towards less inventory sitting on lots at dealers as well as custom orders from home without ever going to a dealership, it would be much cheaper for major companies to just put their hub in a state that allows ICE and just ship it to you. For a few extra thousand dollars of course.

I wonder how they’ll charge these EVs after Lake Mead hits Deadpool in a year or two and stops sending Cali any electricity? They hate nuclear plants. Maybe a shit ton of new generating plants that use natural gas. They won’t have enough water after Deadpool, so the point is moot. I’ve read estimates that it would take 6-7 years of maximum rain and snow pack to return Lake Mead to what used to be normal levels. Climate change and warmer temps pretty much put paid to that. They’re already floating the idea of a water pipeline from either the Mississippi or the Great Lakes. If they had any leadership with brains they’d be building desalination plants.
