1st, just give me a key. You've got to carry the large fob anyway. The keyless feature in all cars is just a gimmick.
2nd, it turning off at traffic lights just wears out the starter.
And I don't think the entry panel key be oard works if you don't have the fob. So, what's the purpose?

Not sure I can help much on the first two items (though there are some threads going on the auto start/stop). But the door keypad absolutely works, or should, with out the fob (otherwise as you say it’d be pointless). The last car I had with this it was a physical keypad on the metal of the door, so this one that lights up on the door pillar is a little odd to get used to. Often a swipe will get it to appear. The other part I have a hard time getting used to is if you unlock the car with the keypad and don’t have the fob, touching the door handle won’t re lock it, you have to push 9-0 together just as you used to have to on an old keyed car.

I will not buy a car where I have to use a key and that has been true for at least 5 years. I do not like putting my hands in my pocket, especially while sitting in a car. Keys are inanely unnecessary.

I don’t think you’ve tried it without the fob. It works fine.

Though it has to be done each time you start the vehicle, you can turn off the Auto/Start Stop...which is what I do since I don't care for that option.

Or do what I do every time I start the car, turn it to Sport mode and it automatically cancels the Auto/Start Stop.

You can do what I do and my wife does with her Escape. Leave the fob in the center console. Use the keypad to unlock the doors and lock the doors. That's better than carrying a fob or a key.

Ford's access code pad is the most genius thing they have done. No other mainstream manufacturer has that advantage.

That's good info to know, I had no idea that would work too.

the keypad entry works great. And no, you don't have to have the fob for it to work. I always use it when I don't have the key to access the interior.

My gripe with the key fob is there is no dedicated spot to put it. And since I’m WFH and am lazy I’m almost always wearing gym shorts and it’ll fall out of those while driving in the abyss that is between the console and driver seat.
