Code P3402 is for cylinder deactivation error and has nothing to do with the turbocharger per se. If the vavletrain was stuck in the deactivation state you were running on two cylinders and the PCM/ECM would not have the proper signal to call for boost, therefore that's the basic reason your Sport had little power output. Assuming the valvetrain is ok and it's just a bad solenoid.
Cylinder deactivation also relies on proper lubrication, meaning correct oil, oil level and oil pressure. Hopefully you were doing your oil changes on time and tracking the oil level between changes.
Oh yeah oil changes for my BB are regular. In fact i just had the oil changed before we traveled for that trip when the turbocharger was being flaky on me.

Ford fixed the solenoid problem and my rpm to power is normal again.
I’m not getting choke-y during accelerations anymore and i can get more power now in higher gears instead of before where it abruptly shifts down to gain power.
Back to happy camper again, yay!

What was the final diagnosis and repair? Was it the boost control solenoid or the cylinder deactivation solenoid.

Thought so, that's what the P3402 code points to.

Now that your Sport is back in the road hopefully you'll have many trouble free miles.
