Yikes! They replaced the ENGINE THREE TIMES? I would have dumped the car on the first engine replacement! My sympathy with the bind you are in though. For a Badlands, my guess is your dealer order is the only realistic route to go; unless you get very lucky and find a used one or extremely lucky and find a new one.Hi AltoAlto,
I placed an order for BS BL last week. I am in the same shoes of you but more pathetic. I have to buy a new car before this winter since I live in Canada; in summer, all my destination can be reached either by foot or bus; winter, doable but not preferable.
I have to change my car because my dealer "killer" my current car by replacing three defective engines in a row which cost me a lot; now I am suing my dealer for damage.
I considered many competitors of BS, and I crossed out those look is too general, and power is too week; on my final list, I have Toyota RV4, Buick Envision, and Ford Edge.
Unfortunately, Buick Envision is out of stock in my city, so I only have opportunity to try RV4 and Edge. I feel Edge is less powerful and accelerate slower than BS OB even Edge has powerful engine than OB. For RV4, I do not like interior, plus my head reach the roof when I try to raise myself so my view won't be limited by the hood. I am 5'8" (175cm). Also, I cannot by plug-in hybrid or full electronic car because I live in a condo.
My parents does not like Edge because they feel like that is grandpa or grandma style car; for RV4, they think price in Canada is expensive than China, so it is not worth it to buy here.
Is there anything I do not like BS? Yes, the view from windshield compare with my old car is narrow, and seat is very hard to adjust to correct position. Of cause, the price (you have no idea how expensive the shipping in Canada, and government fees).
I choose BL over OB because I need the power for winter, and occasionally go to the mountain to try entry level off-road.
This is my experience.
Based on my research, the OB is more off-road capable then I am (i have yet to drive on anything more rough then a gravel parking lot). The few off-road reviews I've seen, the reviewers were all very pleasantly surprised on the Base/BB/OB BS capability.
