No comparison in styling, practicality, and functionality. Reminds me of the Gen 1 Sport Trac - It was best in class light duty truck in its class. Bronco Sport is the same in my opinion. Ford has a talent for doing this imo.

FWIW the May/June 2024 Car and Driver the Escape and Hornet was compared to 6 other Small AWD SUV's the Hornet had the 268 Horsepower and 295 lb.ft. Torque 2.0 Turbo Engine the Escape had the 2.0 Eco Boost 250 Horsepower and 280 lb.ft Torque.The Hornets 0-60 was 5.7 Seconds and a 14.5@95 mph in the 1/4 mile and the Escape 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and 1/4 mile 14.4@97 mph.FWIW they picked the Hornet in 5th place the Escape in 4th Place and the Mazda CX-50 in 1st place.The Escape and Hornet were the quickest and Fastest out of all of them.
