Rim Scratched Advise

Well I ran over a curb and the tire slide off making contact with the rim (ouch). The scratch/scrap in at the outer portion of the rim (did not touch the black) needs a cosmetic repair. Any advise on products to use?

Depending how "bad" the scratches are you might be able to clean up the area using Scotch-Brite pads, they come in different grades of abrassiveness from fine to corse. I've used them before and for me I was at least 90% or more sucessful at removing the scratches I had, it was good enough my eyes wouldn't look right at the area that was scratched, add a little brake dust and the rim looked perfect.

Or as a previous poster suggested, buy a new rim or possibly find a used take off.

Some of the rim repair businesses also sell used rims.

Quite a few options are available, all dependent on how much you want to spend and the level of "perfection" you want the rim to have.

Road rash is a very common problem. There are companies such as Rim Doctor who will repair damaged wheels. I've had 5 or 6 repaired over the years. Cost was about $100 t0 $150 each time. Talk to the local body shops or car dealers in your area. I'm pretty sure they have a local source for these repairs.
