I searched around forever trying to figure out a way to mount recovery boards to my Thule crossbars. Finally came up with a pretty inexpensive and somewhat custom solution. Cost me $160 total for the setup. If anyone has any questions, let me know.

They are X-Bull. Almost the exact size to double stack in the MaxxHaul rack. But it still works out. Was able to use two of the provided mounts for the rear and zip tied the sides to the rack through both handles. Take two minutes max and scissors/knife to access them when needed.

Awesome. Seem like they are good quality. Hardware is solid. But a lot of these boards are toast after one use. But hey, better than being stuck. Lol.

Looks like you did what did... used my existing roof-cargo box to secure my recovery boards. No fancy brackets, just some zip ties and of course a locked steel cable I was able to thread through some exiting holes in my X-bull recovery boards.

Honestly I would be concerned to placing too many "heavy" items on-top of my vehicle. I would easily exceed the roof top weight capability (like when you see folks place a full size spare and then jerry cans and tools , etc) and raises the center of gravity higher on your vehicle when you would want that to be lower, especially off-roading.

The cargo box you see on my video was an affordable Amazon off-brand for $200 and the cross bars are the pricier Thule Aero bars... I had tried some off-brand Amazon cross bars that were a lot cheaper than the $450 I paid for the Thule bars/feets and locks... but was concerned with the security of the bars instead of trying to save money in the wrong places.
