Parking brake issue

Ran into this today after remote starting. Had to make sure my foot was on the brake before the parking brake would release.

Did yours make a weird noise when the parke brake was on?

I am not sure why this is a problem. Are people not using the parking brake and upset that it engages automatically? You don't even need to pull the switch to disengage. When you put the car in drive or reverse and hit the gas, it disengages automatically.

Mine didn't and now my brakes make an excruciating noise worse than metal on metal..but they still stop.
