Just in case anyone was curious, it turned out to be an issue where the previous owner had apparently added some bad coolant into the radiator, and it would gel up in cooler temperatures. it took a while to sort through some warranty checks, but a thorough flush seems to have corrected the issue, and I can finally drive my Badlands!
