I know there has to be a thread in here somewhere that explains the order process, the different stages, etc. I am surprised it’s not pinned and can’t find it via search. I may not be putting in the correct keywords. Anyone have any way to point me to that info?

It does vary somewhat from dealer to dealer. The basics. See and covet a bronco sport. Read up on features colors and price point you desire. Search online or at a dealer near you for a stock sport which are like hens teeth in many areas.
Speak with a dealer preferably one you've worked with or one who is highly recommend. Bigger market dealers may process orders faster as they often have volume priority. Doesn't guarantee it but it helps.
Go through your specs on model, finish, and any extras. Some require a deposit mine was fully refundable. SIGN a statement with your selections and KEEP that singed order and pricing document you might need it.

Once the dealer has your confirmed order it's entered into an order bank where it's processed by Ford. Some receive emails from Ford but that's up to the dealer. Mine did not and never does supply Ford with my email or personal info just my last name for order processing. All communication came from my dealer. When the vehicle was accepted for build a VIN was issued and emailed to me by the dealer.
Once a build date was established and a projected build and delivery date was set. For the most part he was only off by a couple weeks, during chip insanity it was not bad. Once the car is accepted for build you get an email. When it's built you get another with notification and estimate ship date. I'm in Michigan, they projected four weeks it arrived in just over a week. I got pretty lucky. Smaller towns and dealers may require several transport handoffs, ferry rides etc. My dealer was a massive 100 year old company near a railway. It had advantages. I'm sure others have had similar experiences and some have had drastically different outcomes.
