Me and a couple other dads somehow got hall passes for a weekend in mid-June. We want to get off the beaten path, somewhere our wives would never tolerate.
We are all experienced outdoorsmen, and have done our fair share of "overlanding" in our younger years.
Normally I'd head for the high Sierras, but this year the trails will still be blocked by snow. We would like to stay somewhere within about 4 hours of the SF Bay. We'll have 2-3 vehicles including my BL, an FZJ-80 and a 5th gen 4Runner.
The coastal national forest areas are overrun these days, and a lot of the roads are impassible due to the storms. Any good spots in the lower Sierras that are fun to explore? Or BLM? What else?
