I got the Goodyear workhorse 235/70 R17 At installed today at discount tire, cleared the fender wells at full turn no problem , can't really hear any road noise , so that's a plus , I'm installing a RC full strut and spring shock 1- 1/2 " lift later this week , then I'll take it to the local ford dealer for a alignment job , hopefully they'll correct the speedometer at the same time. I've heard they can do that , I like the look of the new tires. , I'll test them at big bend national park later in the spring

Thank you for your business, we greatly appreciate your support. The BS has just the right amount of rugged look with those Goodyear Workhorse A/T tires. The lift should definitely complete the package.

That size is the tallest that the BB can take , 29.9 is what the spec sheet says , with the wheel turned all the way to the inside I can fit my fingers between the tire and inner fender but it's tight, but I do have huge fingers xxxl gloves , so that might make a difference. I live on the lake and have a lot of sand beaches that I can test them on , but I'll wait till I install the curt trailer hitch that came in yesterday, probably get it on Thursday, then I'll have a recovery point incase I get stuck.

From 225 changed to 235, the speed reading change is not a lot. I see 1mph higher reading from gps compared to the BS speedometer.

The 60 to 70 is what changes the height on the tire, that affects the speedometer, the 225 and 235 refers to the width of the tire.although I don't see any width increase just eyeballing from the rear of the tire, I think it's all about ratio's of height vs width.

235/65R17 means:
  • 235 mm tread width
  • 65 is aspect ratio, or sidewall height as a percentage of width, or 235*.65 (152.75 mm)
  • R denotes radial construction
  • 17 is the rim diameter in inches
Since sidewall height is a percentage of tread width, changing from 225 to 235 (or vice versa) while keeping the same rim diameter and aspect ratio will indeed change the overall tire diameter. You can do comparisons between different tire sizes using the comparison tool at www.tiresize.com. For example:

The change from 235/65R17 to 235/70R17 makes no difference in width, but adds an inch to the diameter. The extra rubber will soften the ride but hurt your gas mileage a little. Well worth it in my opinion, plus you get 1/2" lift.
