My 22 BS Badlands adaptive cruise control will cancel but then turns back on. Any ideas what the cause might be

I've had mine cancel a few times when trying to navigate a sharp turn at speed... Usually I get the "Hands On Steering Wheel" notice just before. But, If I don't fast enough, it cancels. However, I'm pretty sure I had to switch ACC back on; I don't recall it coming back on or "resume" by itself. I'll keep a better watch when it happens.

Mine does that when it losses track of the edge of the lane. It took me a while to get used to the chime it sounds when canceling. I kept telling my wife to buckle her seatbelt ?.

99% of the time it comes back automatically, but once I had to turn it off and on using the button on the stalk.

That's not the cruise cancelling, that's the lane keep cancelling. The cruise is still active and watching for traffic ahead. It means you need to watch the road because the steering assist is not able to assist, probably due to lack of road stripes or a really wide lane or what have you. Sometimes if the windshield is dirty, it will tell you to clean.
You really ought to read the manual about the ACC because it isn't like regular 1-button cruise. There are several controls and it would be important to use it safely by knowing what it can and can't do.
