I thought I read here that the BS was created/sold to help Ford meet the fleet gas mileage requirements, to avoid paying a sum of money per vehicle that does not meet these requirements.
It's possible. But even if true that doesn't change the fact that the markets for these two vehicles are very different. Fuel economy is actually one of the primary reasons I decided to get the Sport over the full-size Bronco. I simply refuse to own a vehicle that doesn't achieve at least 25 mpg.

Unfortunately, the only way to get a winch on a unibody construction vehicle is to build in some support structures for it from the factory or risk bending your frame when winching. As for other support things Ford could have done, they could have done a much better job actually making the roof "mod ready". Having to disassemble the entire interior to reach a few inches of pre-installed wire in the A pillar isn't making a roof mod ready. Anyway, modding is fun but at the end of the day, if you want a vehicle you can easily mod, get a 4Runner.

It would be nice to have aftermarket support like this, but I don't think enough Bronco Sport owners ever plan to go places where products like this would be required. Folks who want to hit the wild and wooly off-road trails are buying full-sized Broncos.
Exactly. That was my whole point....... Most OEM's do not offer the mods only aftermarket companies. That's why I was confused by this thread in the first place......
