Correct. My 21 BL is Kodiak Brown and I love the colour in the sun but, yes, it often looks black, unfortunately. Same goes for Alto Blue.

I actually bought the Alto blue and thought it was black until the next day haha! It looked completely black during the test drive and sales process. I drove it to dinner then drove it home, went out the next day to get something out of it and it was blue, like visibly blue…confused the heck out of me, I had to dig out the paperwork because I thought I was crazy. There it said Alto Blue not black. I asked my wife what color she thought it was and she said it was some blue color the salesmen said so. Apparently I missed that whole description.
