With an SUV seemingly living up to adventure I figured touch up paint was an obvious step. Plus I want to airbrush the white letters on the tailgate to color match.
I ordered from automotive touch up/microfinish llc. Took about two weeks, entered my paint code and purchase a 2oz bottle of area 51 and 2oz bottle of clear coat. Each had an application brush in the lid, and area 51 had a mixing ball.
I painted a clear spoon for the round edges and color. One shot in sun one in shadow from clouds.

I ordered some touch up paint from same place for my '88 Mustang. Quick delivery and perfect match for the original paint that is on the car.

I'm impressed with the quality. Took a little while to get it, but that's to be expected mixing a new color

Found my first rock chips. Very small, all on the hood, one down to metal. Sigh.... Thank you for posting this info. Now to decide if I want a hood deflector.

Just finished a touch up with automotivetouchup for a cactus grey BS, and it came out decently, minus the color match.

Color is slightly off from the rest of the car, but luckily the spot is very small. Not sure if it is specific to the coating pen vs bottle, but the paint would not fully mix in the paint pen I got. 10 minutes of shaking and it would come out streaky. Needed to fill the chip and was just done with waiting after nearly 4 weeks to ship, I just filled it. Hindsight I would not have used a paint pen and would have just gotten a bottle.

mother think that would have helped was sanding down the edges of the chip before painting or priming, seen recommendations elsewhere to so that but automotivetouchup has really bad instructions online surprisingly.

For what it's worth I did a test glob inside the rear gate...other than purposely sloppy brush marks...it blends perfectly.

Suggest you add a bottle of the clear coat as well. And with your chip...you can slowly build up the touchup and it will blend fairly well. Thin layers. Bigger issue is keeping it painted to avoid spread or rust
