Anyone else get a notice? What’s a transmission molded leadframe? Anyone have one fail?

Ford says they'll reimburse you if you paid to have one repaired, will repair it for free if you've had one fail or replace it for free up to 15 years or 150K miles.

I haven’t had a MIL or a Wrench Light, which apparently triggers the warranty, so I’m supposed to keep this letter for 15 years or 150K in case it fails. I'm unlikely to hit 150K even if I keep the BS that long given I’ve got a 12-year-old Jeep with 102k on it and a 9-year-old F-150 with 108K on it. I only put 8K on the Bronco the first year I've owned it.

I guess it’s good they are offering a warranty, but I'd just as soon have it replaced now than have to keep up with it over that length of time.

Ford transmissions have had this issue for a while. Many 6R80 F-150 trucks have this same recall. I think its the 2012-2016 range trucks, but not positive on that year range.

You're absolutely correct, Summers22. I had to have the leadframe replaced on my 2012 Expedition. Unfortunately I was out of the warranty extension (I don't remember if it was time, mileage or both!) but there were so many of the F150's with the problem that there was a 6 month backorder on the parts. Fortunately I found a dealer on the web that had bought a large quantity so I bought it from them and had my local transmission shop do the work.

I say all of this to point out that we have to keep an eye on this and hope the situation isn't repeated on the Sport/Maverick platform. As the OP said, having to watch out for this and hold onto correspondence for that long is very inconvenient. If I get that letter I will scan it and put it on a flash drive in my safe with the car titles and other warranty paperwork.
