I have had my 2022 BS Big Bend for about 6 months now. It only has about 3500 kilometers (about 2200 miles). The Ford app indicates that the oil life is down to 54%. The fluid level is fine. I´´m about to go on an extended trip, probably about 3000 miles and I´m unsure if I should have the oil changed before I leave. I live in rather small city, no highways, so almost all of the 2200 miles are stop and go miles. The extended trip will be mostly highway driving. Any thoughts on whether I should change the oil before I leave? Thanks!

I'm new to this forum. I worked as a civilian for the DOD for 34 years before retiring. The stress was always on preventative maintenance. Personally, with a new car I do the first oil change before 1000 miles. After that I change the oil and filter at 5000 miles or 1 year. I also use a full synthetic oil. This is probably overkill to most folks, but if I'm spending $40'000 on a vehicle, I think it's cheap enough insurance.
