Hey guys! Some quick cell pics of a rental BS Badlands doing a couple of "obstacles" towards the north end of the Switzerland trail. A Boulder-based automotive site TFL calls the rocky one "Truth or Dare" with the harder side that I took "Dare" and then the dirt one "Cliffhanger 1.0".

I was so excited to be able to get a Badlands, especially in Cyber Orange! I've been eyeing up buying one since they came out and am even more hooked now that I've gotten to live with basically what I'd buy.

I used to live in the Denver area and was back visiting for work in the mountains. I've done these trails many times in my old Xterra Pro-4X, and have seen TFL test a number of vehicles on them.

I was thoroughly impressed, since I was alone I just did these quickly on my way west since I knew they were easily accessible and "low" risk. The pictures are with the BS in park with the parking-brake engaged. I was able to continue forward from these pictures. No backing down. And generally, very little struggle. For how car-like the on-road experience is, its amazing how "crawl" capable these little rigs are.

While on business travel in the Rockies we used to say:

“Anywhere a SUV can go so shall a rental car”

Even more true for you in a rental BS Badlands 4x4!!

According to Matt, of Matt's Off Road Recovery, the Dodge Charger is the best off road car.

Who had a BSBL rental ?
To avoid incriminating myself, I'll leave the actual name out. But, it was one of the primary rental fleets in the US, not Turo or anything like that. I had booked a small pickup, but they only had a base RWD Frontier. I wasn't sure of the condition of the dirt road I needed to traverse to get to my job site in the mountains so I wanted decent clearance and AWD or better, I've seen lots of Jeep Gladiators and Tacoma TRD-Offroads in the rental fleets which is what I was expecting to get.

I felt beyond lucky to get the BS BL, hence my 1st post in the forum. My travel has decreased in recent years, but I've never even seen a BS as a rental, let alone a BL trim. This one had the BL package as well as the factory tow package and the moonroof!

Back when I was in college at Ferris State in the '90s, my trusty slant six powered Volare coupe would go out with the rest of the guys in 4X4 trucks. I never had an issue off road, but did blow the rear end in the heavy equipment parking lot (my program was heavy equipment technology) doing donuts. ;)

I'm semi-patiently waiting until summer to try my wife's Heritage out on the sand roads by our cabin in mid Michigan. And if I could figure out how to hit those power lines we did in college, I'd love to take it back there too!
