There have been quite a few issues with the OEM battery. Some people had issues in less than 5k miles. It seems that being prepared to replace it will be good planning.

The battery in my edge died at 36mos......I suspect these stop start systems are not good for your battery or your starter

It's a total battery hog. Headlight fans running when parked for days. The power locks all actuate every time you grab a handle. Every so often the car wakes itself up and checks in with home base and a bunch of systems under the hood click a little. A battery charger / maintainer is a great investment for any vehicle, perhaps essential for some. You can also get jumpstarter packs and skip the archaic cable method. (Although I do carry cables in the spare tire area because I have had the set for ages, and why junk them?)
