Anybody ever used Ford Buyback program?

So like the title says...has anyone ever used the Ford Buy Back program? Can you tell me any pointers, what to expect?
I called Ford created a case. I have an appointment at a 2nd dealer for a 2nd opinion. My dealer can't find nothing wrong ..... yet the Bronco is only getting 14-15mpg city and 18-19mpg highway. Sick of this!

I used the Ford Buy Back Program in January 2024. I had a 2023 Escape where after the engine turned off from the auto start/stop and I took my foot off the brake and the engine restarted immediately but the car would not move for a few seconds creating a safety issue where someone not paying attention could slam into the back of my car because I didn't move when the light turned green.

For me the process took about a month when Ford agreed to buy back the car. In my case, about a year later I saw that Ford came out with a specific SSM for the 2023 Escape noting harsh reingagement after the auto start/stop restarts the engine. The fix turned out to be a software update to the ant-lock brakes that were not letting the brakes release immediately after taking my foot off th brake.

As I mentioned my process took about a month. The decision to buy back or not is made by the RAV team which is separate team from Ford Customer Service. I was not able to contact the RAV team until I was informed that the car would be bought back. I kept calling Ford Customer Service for updates at least every week. They can see the progress in their computer. Other than me describing the issue verbally Ford did not want me to provide any documents. They could see everything in their computer and also reached out to the dealer to talk to them but Ford told me that they had not heard back from the dealer yet so I talked to my service advisor to try and keep the ball rolling.

You are in California so Ford will follow California's Lemon Law in determining if a buy back is warranted. Ford Customer Service may have explained this to you. I do not know what other factors are considered but I do know that in your case Ford will follow your state lemon law to see if you qualify for a buy back. Before I requested the buy back I made sure that I qualified for a lemon law buy back I my state. My car was sitting at the dealer for almost 30 days before I called Ford. Using the Ford buy back program does not waive your rights under the state lemon law if Ford decides not to buy back your vehicle.

You may have already done this but I would search the internet for Ford Buy Back and you will find many posts on other people's experiences where some requests were rejected and other requests were accepted for all kinds of reasons.

Buybacks or Lemon Law claims for fuel economy issues can be exceedingly difficult since the mileage shown on the window sticker is presented as an estimate only. I agree that the mileage you are experiencing seems extremely low and should be better. Hopefully the dealers are scanning for hidden or logged codes and making sure the powertrain control software is the correct version/updated. They should also be checking that the EGR valve and purge valve are functioning correctly. They will usually trigger a check engine light if bad, but not always.

Since the 1st dealer said they can't find anything wrong, there is no repair attempt at this point. Buyback and Lemon Law claims are typically reliant on there being unresolved issues after a set number of repair attempts (2-4 usually). Since no repair has been attempted there is no documentation of an unresolved issue other than the service record showing a customer complaint with no issues found.

I wish you the best and hope that you are able to get some sort of resolution from either Ford or the State of California.

Good luck. An attempt at a buyback on mileage is wild. As stated in your other posts, there are a substantial amount of things that can affect mileage.

I did on my 2023 F-150. The dealer handled most of it. Worked out great for me.

When I saw your other post I wondered if you live in a fairly hot climate but you also have the 1.5L engine and mpg that low is unreasonable assuming there is nothing you are doing to cause that, no one is siphoning off gas, etc.

My 2.0L mileage in the “winter” stop n go city traffic is around 24, in the hot AF summer with AC constantly running the mpg drops to 17-19 for stop n go city traffic. At highway speed 60-65 it gets 28-31

Is it fairly hot where most of the driving is done?
