Hi All,
I'm not sure where to place my concern - grill shutters or poss. thermostat.
I'm posting this since all others or Ford manual are more about overheating - my concern is the opposite.
As far as i know it's not good to drive every day to work and never reaching full temperature - for the engine's sake.
At the same time ... the in-car temp seems to be adequate.
I experience slow reaching operation temp (four bars on the display) (Outer Banks).
I drive for about 10-15 km and still barely over two bars on the temp indicator.
At the same time, I see the grill shutters being open, even after sitting for a while.
It is Fall and only about 10 C outside.
I would think whatever the outside temperature is, the shutters should be closed at first to
bring the temp up as quick as possible ...???
Any similar experiences? Any advice highly appreciated!
Thanks
Update:
Just found out – the grill shutters DO work!
Except that the thermostat that adjust them only operates when the car is running / ignition on.
Meaning: when you parked at night and the engine is hot, they are of course open.
They stay like that all night, even if it's getting cold out there, and are still open
The next morning.
Only when starting the car is started the next morning in the colder temperature they adjust to the colder temp and close…until opening again, of course, with the engine heats up.
So much for the shutters.
However, I still think it takes too long for reaching operating temp (four bars) (10-15 min drive)
So, my concern regarding the thermostat and slow heating up remains.
Anyone the same experiences / suggestions?
Thanks
