It’s never crowded but mid week and 1/2 a mile from the access point and it’s your own private beach. As usual there was a Mustang rental buried up to its axels about 100’ from the “4WD Only” sign at the entry point 😂. Someone had just helped pull him out or I would have. It’s really soft this time of year when it’s been dry.

Which sport do you have? I can’t tell from the photo. I have a Big Bend. Is it up to the task of driving on the beach or that something only the Badlands is up to? I know the upper trims have more Goat modes than I do, and I am not sure if my sport is up to the task. I would like to drive south to Hatteras and drive on the beach. They allow it there. As far as I know there is nowhere local here in Va Beach which allows driving on the beach. Thanks.

Mine is a Badlands Sasquatch. I think you’d be fine with other trims if you’re careful. I used to go out here with my lifted Subaru Crosstrek without a problem.

Have a plan in case you get stuck though. To start with I air down to 20 psi before I hit the sand. I have a small compressor to fill back up once I’m off the sand. I carry traction boards and a couple of shovels. I have soft shackles, a bridle and a snap strap too. Other people will be more likely to help you out if you’re all rigged up and just need a pull. I’ve never gotten stuck but I won’t be surprised if it happens. Never hurts to go with a friend with a capable vehicle too.

While on the subject, I’ve aired down and back up a number of times with the sport previously. This trip was the first time I noticed that the TPMS monitor screen updates live when the car is running. I had the tire pressure screen displayed and while I was inflating the tires with my compressor it updated live. The numbers also change from amber to white when you hit 30psi.

Handy and now I don’t have to check the tires with a handheld gauge a couple times each while filling up (My tiny compressor has a gauge but it’s pretty useless). Not quite as cool as the jeeps that honk the horn at a preset pressure but I’ll take it.

This was my second time using the Alltop deflators. Once you have them adjusted to your desired pressure they work great. Not required by any stretch but four times faster deflating than individually 👍🏼. I held off getting them for awhile now because they’re not cheap but I’m really happy with them.

agreed with pixlpush, a big bend should be able to handle the beach, just not as well as a Badlands Sasquatch. I used to drive a Pathfinder Rock Creek onto the beach with only 7.7" ground clearance and Intelligent 4WD with a "sand mode" plus good off-road tires, and it was fine - we always aired down. The BSBB has the same ground clearance, so using Slippery or Off-road GOAT mode you should be OK if you air down and are careful. Off-road tires would help.

i have similar ones from All-Top, they're pretty decent overall - just hard to adjust them accurately, which you don't need to do often.
