JCR Offroad Cat Skid Plate Install: 2025 BS Badlands Sasquatch with a GPF
I wanted to add a catalytic converter skid plate to my 2025 Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch. Living in Portland, I wanted it for two reasons: off-road protection and as a deterrent for our local "catalytic converter enthusiasts." a.k.a. fenty freaks.
The Challenge: GPF vs. Standard Cat
The 2025 models with the Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) have a different setup than previous years. Compared to a standard cat, the GPF is:
The Modification
As expected, it wasn't a direct bolt-on. I had to trim the back of the skid plate to clear the rear of the GPF.
Stock Plate: Marked where I planned my cuts.
Post-Cut: The modified plate ready for install, (i did paint the raw cut edge before installing it.)
Installed: How it sits underneath with the GPF.
JCR's Stock Photo: Just for comparison.

- Larger in diameter.
- a bit longer.
- Equipped with extra plumbing/sensors.

- The Cut: I ended up cutting a bit more than strictly necessary to avoid having to mount and unmount it multiple times, but it provides plenty of breathing room now.
- Clearance: It just barely touches toward the front of the GPF.
- Results: So far, so good. I’ve noticed no rattles and no signs of excessive heat on the plate.
