Hey guys so this is a long one its been to the dealer about 7 times total and never resolved any issues.

So I brought in my bronco sport for the recent recall 24V267000 and a oil change prior to going on my wedding road trip. I drove the vehicle for about 4 days prior to leaving Las Vegas to Washington State.

We made it about 180 miles to gold field Nevada then we started noticing the vehicle would not get up to the set speed on cruise control it was set to 70 and wouldn't get above 63-65 I lowered the cruise control to see if it was having issues since it was going up a hill sadly nope then a wrench light came on and said check manual.

We pulled over checked the manual it said power terrain or transmission issues. We then went online and people said to turn the car on and off and that would reset the wrench code well it did but now our check engine light is on. So now I have to get the vehicle towed back to vegas (180 miles).

Now I bring it to the dealer on Monday. Then on Wednesday I checked the documents they uploaded and it said they overfilled my oil when I brought it in for a oil change they took the excess oil out and drove it for 7 miles and said it had no issues. Thursday I get a call saying that they cannot replicate the issue and they do not know the problem I asked the service rep about the overfilled oil and they said that never happened they didnt overfill it. Then I get a call from the service manager and he says THEY did overfill it but there's no oil in the air filters so it isn't the issue and they are sending it to the transmission tech to look at it.

Its now Friday and I receive a text from the service tech:

"So far nothing, we test drove it more today, no signs of oil anywhere, no trans codes.

Something made it act up, we just can't find it at the moment.

We recommend driving it more around town. As of right now it is ready for pickup, you can pick up today before 6 or tomorrow before 5.

Definitely let me or Brian the service manager know if you run into any more problems.

Try and record what happens when the wrench light comes on if possible. "

I cant for the life of my understand how they would be trying to get my to come pickup the car without fixing the problem.

I have been stranded on the side of the road 5 out of the 7 times this bronco sport has had issues since I bought it in 2021.

Based on the research ive done my vehicle driving close to 200 miles at high speeds in 115 degree heat with overfilled oil would most likely cause issues.

Any ideas if the oil overfill is the issue, the recall, and if not any ideas on what it could be?

I have a 22 BS and drive in the desert about once a month. It seems that FORD changed the oil pan during production and increased the capacity. If I follow their recommendations and fill the oil when I change it, it is OK for home driving in the mountains. However, if I go to the desert valley and head to El Paso, TX the oil heats and expands so it shows I over-filled when changed. Guess what, the "wrench" lights up. Dealer told me it happens a lot. Now I have adjusted the fill not by the book, but by the dip-stick. I fill it on the "low side" and the light stopped coming on. Backyard fixes sometimes do work! LOL I also change the air filter every oil change so the car can breath on hot days. Rodger
