This is just a wild guess since I used to work at a dealership, BUT most vehicles do come pre-wired for accessories or features other trims have. Also I have messed with forscan quite a bit now so I’m pretty sure the ambient lighting feature can be enabled on your sync3 radio. Verify you have...
To me it seems like they’re constantly powered but have a trigger wire. 1 ground, 1 12v constant, and 1 accessory wire. That’s just how I see it. Might be wrong.
I would say tapping into the wire for the shifter should be enough, BUT I think it’d be better if you try and tap into the footwell lighting. As that might give you the dimming option on the cup holder lighting as well.
Try using a volt meter and get a readout for a wire that gets power when your lights are on or if you want to get technical I’m pretty sure you could tap into the footwell lighting.
Fairly easy in my opinion. All you do is access the factory 6x9 sub and tap into it with a Line Output Converter. Once that’s done just run your power wire, find a good ground, and leave the factory sub disconnected and enjoy clean/deep bass. Sounds 1000x better now. Makes the B&O on my F150...
Yes, but to be honest I just pulled it up with my hands. I grabbed it from the edge and cup holder area and pulled out the right side a bit first then once it popped out a bit I did the whole front part and came out easy.
If it helps kind of pull the trim back a bit and pull it from the top then push a bit forward and it comes right out. It may seem like its going to break but its not.
Don’t know really, lol. I mean I got it working and part was only like $30. Most BB I’ve seen don’t come with it, but maybe they did or do. Anywho the write up is there for those who don’t have it and have the wiring pre-installed to hook it up.
I guess some do come with it. Mine didn’t and at my local ford with the parts catalog 21-22 BB didn’t come with it. That was searching with no vin so that’s why I looked for it myself.
Tools Required:
-Pry Tool
-T25 Torx w/ratchet
First you will go inside your vehicle and locate the shifter dial/cup holder area.
Then you will pry it out from the front first as there are tabs in the back that lock it in place.
After removal of trim, flip it around on a side (optional to...
I’m guessing as long as you have the ambient package it should come pre-wired like mine did. Just pop off the trim and verify. If you have the connector then just order the cup holder and it should work.
The connector and wire was there but the original cup holder doesn’t have the ambient lighting. Once I got the cup holder I ordered I hooked it up and it worked. So yes there is power to it but the original holder just has the wires cut and no lights.
Ambient lighting package consists of Door handle area and footwells, but I’ve had several fords and almost all if not all have the cup holder lighting too. As to why I started questioning why the BB didn’t have it.
At first I thought maybe since its an Outer Banks it comes without the cup holder lighting, but I went to several dealers and apparently none come with it. According to parts.
Hi ya’ll I’m new to the forum, but wanted to share a little bit of my BB experience. I got my Cactus Grey Outer Banks on December last year and noticed the cup holder wouldn’t illuminate like in other ford models. I contacted several dealers and all said the cup holder didn’t come with ambient...
