Well, Subaru never owned SAAB. GM bought out half of the company in 1989, and then bought the other half in 2000.
But yeah, they were one of the de-facto snow belt car brands before AWD became super common. My 900s on snow tires were virtually unstoppable in the winter.
Owned two classic '91 900s, a (base) 900 and a 900S. Both were fantastic cars.
There's a "hearing aid beige" blunt nose 5MT 900 sedan running around my town. The owner knows to call me when it's time for him to pass it along to the next owner.
A tie between what I currently own - '15 Sprinter that was a DIY campervan conversion:
And a '92 Mercedes-Benz 400E. Arguably the best-built car I have ever owned:
Over two years and ≈23k miles and still zero issues with our baby Bronco. Solid enough that I have a Maverick hybrid on order to replace my 21 year old F-150.
Well, we had planned on taking my Sprinter that I DIY'd into a camper van on our annual summer trip to see the spawn in the Twin Cities, but the differential was dying on the van (at 61k miles!), so we pressed the baby Bronco into service for the trek. We had to forego the luxury of being able...
Oh wow. How times changed. I know it's purely anecdotal, but ours has only been super reliable with zero warranty issues. Only off to the dealer for one recall issue (and an oil change) in 12k miles.
I recently dug out the last point-and-shoot film camera I bought some 26 years ago and had fun taking photos of random stuff, including the baby Bronco. She looks good with a little grain.
Four time VW van owner here ('68 Westfalia Bus and three EuroVan MV Weekenders). TBH, I am pretty disappointed with what has been shown so far, especially in regards to the very basic interior configuration.
The concept had some wonderful seat tracks to make it more easily reconfigured. Granted...
Thanks @Ford. It's the first "domestic" we've ever purchased new, and only the second we've had period (out of 25 vehicles). The other one is a very basic '03 F-150 I bought quite cheaply from my employer a couple of years ago.
It's quite the conquest for your brand, as we've primarily had cars...
