Well.... As Groucho Marx said, I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member! ?
Your posts and the pix of your Yellowstone helped seal the deal for sure. Ford really should send you a commission...
Enjoy that sweet ride of yours! ?
Right -- good point, thanks! I hadn't tried that yet, didn't have time to figure out how to engage it. Hadn't gotten that far in the manual, lol. I'll try it next time and report back.
I did figure out the adaptive cruise and loved it -- really intuitive and made driving easy.
Oh wow, maybe that's what it is! My RAV was a 2007.
But I also recently rented a new RAV for a short trip and it steered pretty easily from what I remember.
I think I just need to get used to the BS steering. I get the sense that once you have turned/adjusted the steering wheel you can kind...
Ah, interesting! I will check it out and see if there is a difference.
Mainly it's during highway driving. The distance to my off-the-grid place is about 250 miles each way. I noticed my hands getting tired about an hour into the trip. Maybe the tires make a difference...
Come to think of it...
Interesting! Yeah I can already tell the difference with the tires. They seem awesome, did not know what I was missing.
The car sort of named itself, sometimes it happens like that. Usually my cars have no name. I had a VW Golf in college named "The Blue Pearl," but that was a long time ago...
Haha I knew I'd get razzed here ? I did look very seriously at the BL -- but I think I would have been disappointed, once I set my heart on the Yellowstone.
Also there were certain things I needed/wanted -- tow package, moon roof, etc. that came standard on the HLE.
And the white roof will...
Whelp, here's the update: I did it! Took the plunge last week. Picked up the BS HLE for MSRP from Wayne Ford in NJ.
When I went for the test drive (and purchase), I brought a tape measure and made sure the ground clearance was good. It was, as advertised, almost 9 inches with the Falken tires...
Here's our place, with a ridiculously over-the-top double rainbow.
We just have 4 movable solar panels with a GoalZero LI battery and inverter unit. For a while there I was thinking about getting a Jeep Wrangler 4XE and hooking it up to solar, but it wouldn't make sense with all the city and...
Thanks so much for your thoughts -- and sorry for the lag (work craziness). I'm still leaning towards the HLE, I just love that Yellowstone butter-and-sugar color so much and it brings back memories of our yellow Jeep from my childhood. The full-sized Bronco is too much for me living in the...
That's the thing -- I can't find any reference anywhere to ground clearance in the tech specs. It's not in the manual and not in the specs. I'd love to find anything at all.
I'm starting to think the only thing I can do is go to a dealer who has the non-Badlands and Badlands models along with...
Thank you, it does answer the question about the Badlands, but I still haven't seen anything about the HLE ground clearance. I know everyone says it's based on the Badlands trim, but I measured at the dealership -- 8" max clearance on the HLE. I didn't check the tire pressure, who knows, maybe...
Hi, I'm looking at the Badlands and the HLE Yellowstone. When I went to test drive the HLE I brought a tape measure because I'm driving on soft sand roads with deep ruts and steep hills, and I wanted to get a definitive ground clearance measurement. So I measured at the front of the car, from...
Still curious about the ground clearance question -- has anyone actually measured it on these vehicles? Before I buy anything I want to compare the real-world measurements. I plan to bring a tape measure to the dealer and check it out.
Here's a clip of me at age 9 (a very long time ago)...
Interesting, thanks, very helpful. The door frame handles are sort of set into the ceiling above each door, and I can see there are 3, not sure about on the driver's side.
The Ford guy quoted me 48.6K, which is 2K over asking, and then came down $1K today, so 47 something. I think they are...
