Happy Birthday Marines!
I rode submarines, so we didn’t get Marines of our own, but, we did deliver and pick up some in Nam. They came aboard telling us how tough they were . . . that is until the first “trim” dive. After we took ‘em down once they thought different — one summed it up, “you’re...
Yeah, joined the Navy as I knew my draft # was #1 . . . 2nd week of boot camp in the first mail call we had was my Army draft notice — I sent it “return to sender” with a note that said, “If you want me , come and get me” and the NTC post-mark (those were my “idiot” years).
Ah yes, life — the hand of fate has writ, then moved on (or something like that).
Enlisted in USN on 18th BD; had delay to report so I could graduate HS. Served (3) Nam tours (Navy, NOT Army) from ’68 to ’71, then @ 15 years on PD’s until I was so banged up they retired me.
Got “Dear John’d”...
Not mice — had rat problems, fortunately in garage; attic; crawl space . . . not in car. Finally got rid of them and found these things worked best:
1) glue traps — only ya gotta’ be strong to dispatch the squeaking critters.
2) battery powered electric rat trap/killer — zaps the little b ———ds...
Run through the carwash every few weeks (parked outside all the time). They fold the mirrors and tape down the rear wiper. I have the stubby antenna (2” I think), so there’s pretty much no way for the “wiggly strips” to catch on it and do damage (also keeps it below the cross bars if I need to...
Check my posts earlier about the issue back in 21-22. Still haven’t heard of a fix except to drop the fob in the tray when it occurs. Only an issue on some vehicles — my ‘21 being one of them.
Just a thought (I’m just full of ‘em) . . . cross the border, buy at Harbor Freight and install in the parking lot then recross the border with nothing to declare — I did it on a cruise with Mexican boots some years back <lmao>
I don’t know if you have Harbor Freight in Canada (or similar), but they have inexpensive bars that extend past the rails. They’re “universal” mount, low profile, and basic — no frills, but have worked well for me over the past 5 years.
Yup, got OTJ injury, tried to hold out ’til new contract (nice raise and better retirement numbers) — city politely told me to “pound sand” and cancelled me 2 months prior to new contract “Bennie’s”.
Yeah, I’m long retired . . . yay! Can’t speak from personal experience, but I think the CA Explorers aren’t hybrid — YET, and everyone seems to be very happy with their performance out here.
So far I’ve not had any problems with 235/70 AT's on stock offset wheels, and stock BL suspension, rubbing. They’re 30” tall, which seems about the limit without modifications. I imagine that if you try real hard you can find the “limits”.
