This sounds like a manual dimming rear view mirror. I have an auto dimmer in my OB, but one of my previous cars (Jeep Sahara) had a manual dimmer that you flip to make it darker (dim). Does it have a little tab on the bottom of the mirror?

I always do this too, or I run out of my house at 11pm to throw that one plastic bottle in the recycling bin just to catch one more glimpse of my BS. I just hope no one is ever watching me as I stare at my car lol
