Supply and demand, sure. But the Sport we're all driving and enjoying was designed before the pandemic supply chain issues + FED-induced inflation. So Ford's asking a rich price for what was originally intended as a high-volume mid-tier vehicle. The interior material quality is the biggest tell...
Agreed, thanks to CarMax resale and the crazy market, I effectively ended up in my 22 Badlands for what I paid for my 21 Big Bend. But "off the street," I'm not sure I would've went with the Sport Badlands at 22 prices, let alone 23. In particular, the quality of the interior materials is...
I'd prefer a standard that's implemented by phone manufacturers instead of relying on Ford's janky mobile app. So like you said, your phone can become a 'universal' fob for all vehicles that support the standard. Seems like a logical progression as phones become universal (and 'passwordless')...
Bring back the 80's luxury land yachts. I briefly owned a 1985 Buick Park Ave in the 00's and it was an unbelievably comfortable ride.
Edit: here's Hyundai's concept for an 80s-inspired electric car.
The interior sold me on the Sport more than anything. I mostly hate new cars: the fat pillars, reduced visibility, not enough glass, touch screens, glossy plastics, etc.
Setting aside Ford's cheap and easily-scratched interior materials, the Bronco Sport has an excellent "old school" interior...
Hah, thanks for doing this and sharing! I'm seriously considering a white wrap on my Cactus Grey Badlands this summer and this is the best 'shop I've seen yet.
Here's an actual white roof wrap from a random dealer I found online a few years ago.
Same, having options is a plus. For Cactus Grey, I think CG + CG looks sharp -- that's what I would have ordered for my Badlands if it were available at the time.
For some of the "flashier" colors, I'd prefer the black roof to mellow them out.
An underappreciated aspect of the Sport is that...
After several thousand miles of driving, my combined MPG is 23.2 (24 on the dash display). This is similar to my old Big Bend's mileage in the city. I haven't done much highway driving, but from what I estimate, I'd probably get 25-25.5 MPG on "highway-only" tanks.
Nice, thanks for sharing. It's a great color for the Sport especially with the black roof and trim. Between EG and the dark highland green on the Bullitt Mustangs, I think Ford makes the best greens in the business. Almost makes me wish I waited to order a 23 instead!
At the risk of stating the obvious, I view the Bronco Sport, especially the Badlands trim, as a right and proper sport utility vehicle. So many "SUVs" barely qualify as such IMHO; the dilution of "SUV" is perhaps why we have to reach for other descriptors when talking about the Bronco Sport.
@Mhermann596 is correct: there's no way to off-load vehicles or otherwise 'park' a train there for extended periods. Ford said my car was in Nogales for 10+ days, whereas the railroads reported it moving along its expected route. You'll need the railcar number (does not change) and the phone...
Eruption Green looks sharp; would have been worth waiting for MY23 except that my same build (loaded Badlands) costs ~$3,700 more than what I paid in December 2021. Finance rates will probably be worse too.
If we're stirring the pot here, OP's list is incomplete: I still need the folding headrests on the rear seats, temp displays on the climate control dials, and of course the little green light on the start/stop button to show me when the car is running. Oh, and the owners manual didn't come with...
Dig it. I might've waited for a 23 if I knew a white roof would be an option! But not sure how a white roof would look on cactus grey; it really pops with the blue.
Not sure if it qualifies as a "hidden gem" these days, but I loved visiting the Space Coast & Saint Augustine many years ago. Incredible vibe along that stretch of the coast.
I respectfully disagree. I've found this forum extremely informative and appreciate even the critical perspectives. This helped me immensely when inspecting my new Badlands, and also while trying to improve the Premium Package seat comfort.
I'm 50/50 on keeping mine due to the seats. I haven't had a long drive lately but the next one will be the moment of truth I think.
Going to second the Mazda CX-50. The sand color looks pretty sharp.
There's a diving school / park in Alabama with a similar setup: old quarry with submerged school bus, boats, vehicles for exploration. https://bluewaterparkal.com/explore-the-quarry/
Thanks for sharing the pics!
